About the Wine Committee

The Wine Committee supports our mission throughout the year by hosting an international wine competition when over 1,000 entries are judged by a highly experienced panel that selects the award-winning wines by varietal. A Champion Wine Auction Dinner as well as Uncork & Unwind Wine Pairing Dinners. During the annual San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, the committee assists with the H-E-B Wine Cellar.

Wine Competition

The 14th Annual San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo Wine Competition will be held on Monday and Tuesday, Sept 30 – Oct 1, 2024, followed by a Championship Round on Wednesday, October 2, 2024. We are accepting entries of commercial wines with Suggested Retail Price of $10.99 value and higher. We will be gathering a highly experienced and professional panel of judges to select our award-winning wines for the 2024-25 Rodeo events. Although the competition will take place in October 2024, the award year will be represented as 2025 coinciding with the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo in February 2025.

We will begin accepting entries the week of July 1st and continue through August 30th.

Wine samples will be received on September 9th through Sept 20th.

Winners will be notified no later than Tuesday, Oct 15th. The Top 14 Champion Wines will be celebrated at the Champion Wine Auction & Dinner on Thursday, November 21st and showcased in the San Antonio Rodeo Wine Garden sponsored by H-E-B on Feb 6-23, 2025.
